Rock Round Up: March ’17

2017 has already been an incredible year for rock music, and trust me it’s only going to get better!

We’ve already seen new releases from the likes of Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes; You Me at Six and Lower than Atlantis and that’s merely a taster of what is to come with big releases expected from Dragonforce, Incubus and even Mastodon, with and album expected at the end of this month.

However let’s kick off with some new music that has graced the world already this year:

NEW MUSIC:

Papa Roach have exploded back onto the scene two years after their previous album F.E.A.R. They’ve already announced a new album is in the works which we can hope to expect late 2017; an album they’ve teased with tracks such as ‘Crooked teeth’ and the quite frankly incredible ‘Help’, which was released February 17th of this year.

A band you may not have heard of, Blood Youth released a new single titled ‘Making Waves’ early this year. This hardcore punk group who hail from Harrogate and are in the process of releasing their debut LP, expected April 7th. Resembling the love child of Rage Against the Machine and Linkin Park, Blood Youth will strike a chord (Pardon the pun) with any fans of heavy aggressive vocals and powerful pounding riffs which I guarantee will continue onwards to their new LP.

Finally a band who have a habit of releasing banger after banger. Imagine Dragon have returned with their powerful new track ‘Believer’. Released late January this tune is a teaser of what is to come from their upcoming album that they have cryptically been teasing since late 2016. Full of bass and powerful vocals from lead singer Dan Reynolds, if this track is just a sample of what is to come, then now is a time to be very very excited.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK:

While She Sleeps

Hailing from Sheffield, this metalcore 5 piece are slowly growing in popularity as they build up to their 3rd album release later this year. 2012 Kerrang’s best British newcomer award winners While She Sleeps are a heavy mix of deep bass riffs and explosive drumming that combine into a sound comparable to the likes of Bring me the Horizon, this being made even more obvious in their latest single ‘Silence Speaks’ which features BMTH frontman Oli Sykes.

Formed in 2006 they have recently toured with the likes of Asking Alexandria and Architects and are touring themselves from April featuring locations around the UK and Europe. Should you feel like catching them at a venue near you make sure to check out their website.

However for any Nottingham locals ill save you some time as While She Sleeps perform at the Rescue Rooms on the 10th of May, with tickets from £16 this sure is a gig you do not want to miss out on if you are a fan of metalcore or just feel like checking out some quality live music!
