Things You Should Know About Grad Ball 2017

As end of term approaches, it can mean only one thing, the hotly-anticipated Grad Ball.

So we’ve lined up some facts for you ahead of the biggest blowout of the year.

Grad Ball is located at the Motorpoint Arena!

Venturing out of the usual event location, the Students’ Union, for one night only, students get the full party experience at Nottingham’s biggest venue which has hosted some of the UK’s biggest artists.

Recent visitors of the Motorpoint include Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars.

It’s not just for graduates!

Despite the rather deceptive name, Grad Ball isn’t just for those leaving Trent… it’s open to all students.

Whether you’re fresh-faced and just starting out at uni or you’re a second year looking to celebrate those final deadlines, you can bag yourself a ticket to the hottest event of the year.

The Get Up!

As students spend most of their time living in their comfies, Grad Ball is an opportunity to be dressed up to the nines. So whether you’ve always dreamt of being Cinderella at the (Grad) Ball or getting that dickie bow you wore to Ocean during Geek week out, here’s your chance.

Grad Ball has attracted some huge acts in previous years!

Boasting a never-ending list of  huge headliners, some of the previous artists that have appeared at Gradball include Example, Lethal Bizzle & Duke Dumont in 2015; and Krept & Konan, MNEK and KatyB in 2016.

Check out last years highlights below!

In typical Gradball fashion, this year is no different to the rest, hosting some of the biggest current names in the industry, this year is set to be one of the best yet!

Here’s a run-down of who you can catch at this year’s gig:

Set to be one of the most versatile performances of Grad Ball, XCX will be putting together a set of bangers to get you moving.
Not only will there be live mixing, Charli XCX will also be performing some of her Greatest Hits including: After the After Party feat. Lil Yachty, Boom Clap, I Love It (Icona Pop collab), Fancy (the HUGE Iggy Azalea collab) and more recent hit, ‘1 Night’ with Mura Masa.
Originally bursting on to the scene with that Calvin Harris collab, you’d have to have been living under a seriously big rock to not know who this trio are.
Having just finished an International tour, they’re now going to be performing just for you!

Some of their Greatest Hits to date include: No Worries (feat. David Guetta), How Deep is Your Love, Daylight and most recent hit On My Mind.

Zak Abel
Although he’s only burst on to the mainstream scene fairly recently, he’s bringing bags of talent with him.
Entertaining you with his amazing vocals, it’s almost certain he’s going to be setting the bar for this years Gradball ridiculously high.
He’s mainly known for teaming up with the likes of Wretch 32, Gorgon City and Avicii so you’re likely to recognise the tracks he’s putting out.
As well as this, he’s recently released his track, Unstable, which has charted earlier on this year.

It’s more than ‘just a gig’…

If you thought Grad Ball was just about what’s on the stage, you thought wrong.

There’s plenty of other entertainment besides the music lined up.

Promising you some quality time with all your friends before heading off into the sunset for summer, there’s loads on offer.

Boasting casino tables, arcade games, funfair stalls. a video booth, an official photographer and even a chocolate fountain, you’ll never be trying to find something to do at this year’s grad ball.

After the After Party…

Charli XCX wasn’t lying when she talks about after the afterparty, it’s a thing: we promise.

If you don’t think a night out is complete until it’s daylight, the NTSU will be putting on a late night extravaganza for you to enjoy that one last blowout complete with a DJ. As this is an extra special event in NTU’s calendar, it also means it’s going on for some extra special hours.

Gradball is the only event in the Trent calendar that goes on till a whopping 5am! So there’s plenty of time to get your gladrags on and get ready to party until the sun comes up (literally!).
